Randi! Top bloke. I am a long time reader of his site: www.randi.org

What a great person to have on board.

A bit of fun and it could it be used as counter-publicity to the scameraships as in "MCN offered £1m to them to prove speed causes 30% of accidents" and not one of them took it up. Needs thinking through but maybe a slam dunk to remove the 30%, 1/3 lies?

Interesting use of words really. "We told each partnership we contacted"!

Now was that All Partnerships, Half or the Partnerships or just 1/3rd of partnerships?

They certainly didn't contact us. Now there may be a reason for that, I wonder what that could be?

I think I'll look into that site, it's amazing what you can dig up for a million quid!

We wait with baited breath for your 'evidence' Steve.

The Camera Parterships know who they are and the offer applies to all of them. They don't exactly need someone approaching them personally.

Please do. If you won't accept what we say, then perhaps you'll accept what they say.

Cheers
Peter

I agree with Zamzara about Randi's site. It's excellent for clearing your eyes of smokescreens to the truth. He deals with paranormal fraudsters superbly and if he took up the one third lie cudgel, there would only be one winner!!

Perhaps they did and someone ignored it. SCPs have a habit of ignoring correspondence, especialy e-mails. Or maybe it is still in tour in-box

Go back and check your records

Oh or maybe it was sent first class post like you NIPs...and we know they can go missing form time to time...

SO ARE YOU GOING TO REPLY TAKING THEM UP ON THE OFFER THEN?

Should be money in the bank...you could even give it away to charity if you want to earn brownie points with the public (and lets face it you need them at the moment)

Remember MCN are just having a bit of fun. The $1,000,000 Randi prize is for paranormal claims only, not fraudulent ones as in the one third lie.

As TC001 said maybe we are onto something here.
If safe speed is convinced of "The one third lie" then what great publicity to have a prize up for grabs for anyone if they could prove it was true.
Any of the agencies who pedal the phrase could apply, police, local council, camera partnerships even the government.
The problem would be acquiring the funds, as it must be a genuine and transparent offer. Safe speed unfortunately does not seem to have any major backers to put any money up which is the way Randi got his £1,000,000 held in a trust fund.

Isn't the 1/3 claim more than a bit supernatural?

That's what the Randi Prize is for, yes. But the MCN are offering £1,000,000, not $1,000,000, so it sounds as if the money up for grabs here isn't the Randi Prize.

Hi Just listened to an item on radio4. Brake and yorkshire camera partnership talking about the AA putting speed camera sites data in the new atlas. They were given a very easy ride with little challenge to the speed myth. I phoned in to say my speed camera proposed site has 1 speed related accident in three years and asked them to put the £1,000,000 challenge to them.

:) Richard

Why bother?

The partnerships have invented an excellent way of getting people to send them much more than a cool £million without the need to dig up any information whatsoever.

They're called 'safety' cameras, I believe
