Does anyone feel that they fit into the category of 'bad passengers'?

By 'bad passenger', I mean someone who is at considerable unease when others are driving them. I tend to try to switch off (observing the road/conditions critically) when others are driving, which helps a lot.

Not I, I will generally fell perfectly happy, but Mrs CJB is one of the worst - always suggesting that an accident is just around the corner, slow down, that was close, etc etc etc. FACT - I was last involved in an RTA >10 years ago (and I was rear-ended at a red light, so there), she ran into the back of a bus only last year - in icy conditions, but still "her fault" for not keeping control. So I do my best to ignore the stream of consciousness and only occasionally remind her of the accident records.

I try not to be, but my dad is in terms of making some drivers feel uncomfortable. My mum won't drive my dad unless he's too ill to drive himself. He made her so nervous tht she made more mistakes then she normally would.

I'm relaxed enough if being driven by an average driver, and comfortable and appreciative when being driven by a good driver. But it isn't so good if I'm being driven by a bad driver...

Perhaps bad drivers cause bad passengers?

Having watched Britains worst driver quite a few of the less confident drivers seemed to be afflicted by some truly awful passengers. The one I remember most was the Woman with a new BMW who berated her husbands driving and would not let him near it despite it, to me seemingly being very good.

Bad drivers causing bad passengers makes sense. I'm certainly a lot more nervy being driven by certain people who tailgate, manoever without indicating, brake hard and late etc. My cue to get out at the pub for a pint of nerve calmer. On the other hand there is one member of my family who is such a bad passnger that she makes speedo checks almost unnecessary. The squeaks of terror get more frequent as speed increases until at the speed limit it's almost constant. Ironic coming from a serial door mirror destroyer, and very distracting to have sat next to you for any length of time.

I have a friend who is a bad passenger, he isnt nervous he's just bloody annoying.

You see a light change colour, he says "the lights changed" I say "I know"

You see a car at a junction your appraoching, he says "There's a car there" I say "I know"

It starts to rain and just as you go to put your wipers on he says "put your wipers on" I say "I am"

And when there are three of us in the car we have a chorus...
"theres a cat crossing the road" "WE KNOW!!!"

the other day we went out for sunday lunch and when we got back he said "y'know, you're one of the few drivers I feel safe with"

I swear, I will throtle him one day
