Know the feeling! Rogues' teachers think Wildy :neko: and self are very non PC  We have had the :readit: lecture from the rogues courtesy of their teachers

Papa PAPA - you must separate the green from the brwon from the clear from the plastic and put the papers in the recylcle bin.....

Well here's news. I got her and her siblings hooked on FUN! This to me means CARS!

way to go fella!

I introduced them to the thrills of proper motoring. Safe open roads where the exhilaration of making progress could be felt! I was not aggressive but good clean fun!

Like it! :clap1:

Quote:
My one year old's legs were singing for England every time the engine roared to overtake. His little face was such a picture of joy; brought a tear to my eye. He cannot talk yet but he makes three noises: bus tractors and a car. Sometime I’ll teach him the nuances of a V8. I think he will be able to a super high-pitched whirr of an RX&* rotary - but there's time - don't want to hothouse him.

He'll get along fine with Rachael! Already gurgling correctly!

Lukas could do these at aged 12 months as well.

Quote:
On a deserted beach I placed my 5 year old on my knee and we did some gentle figure eights. She was like the girl in the "Exorcist" - possessed and growled "Wanna go faster daddy” That’s my girly! Like a cultish initiation - she became ONE OF US!

 8-)

You are bringing them up the right way! All our kittens have had this induction course so far! 8-)

Way to go fella :bounce1:

Once they experience the thrill - it's like a drug! They want MORE!

Like the 82-year-old Granny who wrote to me about her pillion ride on a Harley in Oz! Good on yer - Vera!

On holiday we passed a camper, which proudly proclaimed via a sticker that it’s great to be vegetarian and claimed to run on bio fuel. I explained to the kids that this kind of motoring was some folks' idea of "fun" - but they just wanted to go FASTER DADDY!

Ours are gob smacked!

Quote:
As a child - had photos of fast cars on the wall. They represented freedom and glamour. Today we are supposed to think driving a sports car is akin to clubbing a puppy to death and devil worship!

   Lentiists have much to anser for ......

Quote:
I'll teach the kids about the environment and how to respect it. I'll tell them about clean diesels and hybrids - but photos of sports cars will stay, as that's FUN

No children or animals were hurt in the writing of this article - save for a few thousand insects - including on large dragonfly!

I loved that bit! :clap1:

Don't worry she will soon grow out of it. At 5 they believe whatever you tell them (remember Santa, Tooth fairy etc).

By the time she it 14 she will hate the world, hate school and probably hate her parents parents.

I know I have 3 teenage daughters...........

I know this has been mentioned before, but why do eco-warrior types always drive the most ancient, and hence and polluting, vehicles? Just goes to show their crusades having nothing whatsoever to do with science, ecology, or actually helping the environment, and everything to do with superstition, anti-science, and wealth envy. Not that there aren't some good arguments against capitalism, but saying the planet is dying isn't one of them.

Referring to the original post our kids used to come home with a load of eco-cobblers from their teachers.

Funny thing is, to my knowledge not one of the teachers used public transport, walked or used a bicycle to get to school
The car park was full of 5+ year hatch back cars (could never figure that one out considering what they earn)
There seemed to be a large proportion going on driving holidays in France

Science teachers are a bread apart……….
When I was at school we made a compressed air powered super gun and our own gun powder. We filled baloons with compressed natural gas and attached fuses lighted fuses then let them go. Man we had fun in that class...

I enjoy the Thermit reaction

They don't let me do it much as it expesive :(

Quote:
Metallic iron is produced at a temperature significantly above its melting point at 1535C. Once the reaction has started it is almost impossible to stop it. A CO2 fire extinguisher should to hand; water should not be used because potentially explosive hydrogen can be produced. No one should be closer to the reaction than two metres.

Taken from here:

To see it:

Last time I did it my foolish lab tech, put it in an Aluminum can :o(Al melts at 933 degrees C   )- unknown to me :x .

I found it fairly amussing, as seconds after the reaction had began a two foot flame appered and iron at ~ 1535C few arcoss my class room as the Al can melted  :D

I never saw big tough inner city GANSTAS look so scared and move so fast. :rotfl:

Now I have a very burnt table and floor  (Well I had to make it a proper chemistry lab :D )

But because of heath and saftey etc. :grumpy: I fear the humble busen burners days are numbered

It's because you're a new user in these forums. The L plate disappears after 10 posts. We adopted the idea because:

* We allow new uers greater latitude
* We want regular users to treat new users kindly and encourage them in rather than scare them off.

So it's part of our trying to provide the best possible service for everyone.

And :welcome:
