Like we couldn't see it coming  It will gradually get bigger, with perhaps two different zones, an outer and an inner. At the same time it will also get more expensive.

An interesting result for "democracy" too.. 42% voted "for", 43% voted "against". Therefore, under Red Ken's rules, the "fors" had it.

Unless there is some kind of "let up" (ie, ditch road tax), then all this will lead to is more cloned cars, etc on the road.

"A Transport for London survey showed 63% of residents and 72% of firms were opposed to the western extension."

Good to see democracy at work :x

Just shows what a nasty, dictatorial scumbag Livingslime is...

Presumably the reason for this is that despite increasing the charge because planned revenue wasn't being achieved, that has just deterred more drivers, and they're still not achieving their planned revenue, so need to find another way to bring the cash in?

Don't know about it expanding in london - the west midlands know a money maker when they see one --

Councils' £1m road charging research
The seven councils of the West Midlands are to ask for more than £1 million from the Government to research congestion charging in the region.

Perhaps when the elections come around next year the silly burgers are reminded that motorists have votes.

Well, Comrade Ken has always said he hates cars, has always said he'd ban them if he ever got any power again, always said he'd bring in the congestion charge, and was always keen to extend it outwards pretty sharpish. Perhaps Londoners will wise up and get rid of him when the next Lodon elections come round.
