DO the reader’s remarks show overwhelming support for cameras?…I think not. The arguments against show a very positive attitude to road safety and logical thinking. Pro-camera posts look like clone BRAKE ramblings.

The third response is pertinent too...

There are not going to be enough police if the Government replace them all with robotic cameras.
Those "out of control youngsters driving their souped-up trash cans without insurance" will continue to be a menace without REAL policemen, carrying out REAL policing.

AND, it's worth considering that every motorist snapped on camera committing an offence is allowed to carry on unhindered.
It's like stopping a burglar in mid crime, taking his details, then leaving and saying "Carry on, I'll send your penalty in the post next week".
Would burglary rates go down if such a policy was adopted? Only if they decided to burgle the next street/town next week, then you would be able to claim a success!!!

What these 'locals' and all locals for that matter mean is 'Driving like a c**t Kills' but they some how translate it into 'speed kills'!

There's a sign in the Cat & Fiddle pub on the famous road of that name that says "Drive like a knob and you'll die" which seems to sum it up very succinctly

Playing in the street? Presumably the cars aren't actually using the pavement?

And would they really be all that safe if they were hit by non-speeding cars with quiet exhausts?

And then the bit"I have phoned the police because teenagers were standing in the middle of the road and had they been knocked down they would probably have landed in my front room. The police still haven't arrived. I will not phone any more.

Ah yes, what we need here is a "Young people gathering cam".

Exactly what young people gathering has to do with the speed of traffic is beyond me - just about sums up the whole item to me as another excuse board set up by the pratnerships, as they run out of sites.

Perhaps they have a new van dedicated to catching stationary teenagers.
