Don't know if anyone read this article in the times , or has got one of these with the problem

RAC maps out a very scenic route to Devon - via Ireland, Wales, France...

http://driving.timesonline.co.uk/articl ... 65,00.html

Aparently the RAC online routfinding service has been sending people on weirde routes to anywhere.

Sounds like a bit from a Monty Python sketch - " oh no to get to DEVON , YOU GOT TO GO VIA ......."

It was on Top Gear at the weekend. The woman wanted to get to devon avoiding the M5. Seems a little OTT to send her via Cork though :)

It's almost as good as the Autoroute error which sent you all the way around the world rather than the direct route between two close by cities. I can't remember the details but I am pretty sure it ended up reported on theRegister.

Microsoft's Autoroute gave me a route from Yorkshire to the North coast of Scotland via a very long ferry from Newcastle to the Orkneys and back to Thurso. When I excluded that ferry port it rerouted me Via Hull and Norway!
