slighty off original topic but same vein of thought. Brrr freeze.
At the first flurry of snow, a chilly morning or freezing conditions - before the local councils have time to finish off their bacon butties & tea, motorists everywhere turn into olympic skaters - even though it happens every year! The skidding out of control isn't so much a problem in terms of quantity of accidents. It's the oops! my nose slid four feet into the road full of oncoming traffic that can't stop either. (Thank you ABS for getting me round these numpties!)
And I bet every garage and 24hr supermarket will be sold out of de-icer & screenwash the first night it snows! Never fails!
At the bottom of my road (about a 1 in 4 gradient) there are at least 2 or 3 impacts every year. And it's damn near impossible to get back up the hill either! FWD or RWD! - Calls for lots of grit and careful clutch feathering!
A good product from a few years ago is 'pre-de-icer' kinda a 'night-before' affair if frost / snow is expected. Contains a lot of glycerine I think so forms a water soluble barrier on the glass. Works great, and is much better than IPA based de-icer which justs lets the melted water re-freeze.
I miss my heated front screen

Why was it only Ford seem to do them?
ps. I love winter driving. Especially in the Highlands when it's stopped snowing - stunning scenery! (I'm not being sarcastic.) Just have to watch out for the muppets trying to keep up dry condition speeds...well it IS SAFE to be at the NSL, so why shouldn't they be? After all - it's SPEED KILLS...not bad driving, or unforseen circumstances, or failing to take into account prevailing road conditions....ad nauseam.
