Extract from tonights Shropshire Star:

Action call on switched-off camera trap

The future of a controversial roadside speed trap, whcih has stood unused for months, is set to be discussed at a meeting today.

The camera on the A5 at Shotatton has not snared a single motorist since it was first installed more than four months ago, and is currently covered over in black polythene.

The West Mercia Safety Camera Partnership wants to see the trap switched on and working as soon as possible, but has faced delays due to problems with the power supply.

But bosses from the organisation are due to hold a meeting with the Highways Agency and Shropshire County Council to try to pave a way forward.

Meanwhile, in Telford two new speed cameras placed on roads where people have been knocked down by cars will be turned on tomorrow. Cameras will be switched on in Dawley Road, Arleston and Leegate Avenue, Leegomery. The move follows the inquest of five-year-old Benjamin O’Shea, who died on Dawley Road in Arleston last year.

I can feel a couple of questions of the local pratnership coming on

If they follow the pattern of "The Camera That Never Was" on Smithfield Street, Shrewsbury - about 76%.. :-)
