On the day when the "liebertoothsome cornetto" as Widly :neko: :rolly: call him announced a brake to scams.... Manchester Evening News headlines with

BLITZ ON BUS LANE CHEATS

   Well - I guess they just have to keep the cash rolling in ... :furious:

David Ottewell scoops the front page.... and reports that police and only Todd's finest could issue fines for driving in a bus lane... but now this power has passed to .. councils and things will hot up int he autumn in Manchester on bus lane "abuse"

Be warned - the Manchestset journalist a has a hot tip - priority stelath tax to affect A57 Hyde Road an d A5145 through Chorlton. Not that I know these areas - apart from the odd trips to Tameside and Wythenshawe hospitals with occasional run to Christie's as lurges do affect cancer patients. and of course - the lurgy/germs in North West hospital - I get hammered over it despite telling 'em that lurgies... well -living things fighting to survive as we do  I put in measure zap 'em - but they evolve as constant. It's fascinating to watch really  Golly - must be one sad barsteward after all 8-)

Naturally the council deny "money makjing exercise" and the council claims it spends £32m on bus lane paint

Er - [i] why]/i] Not like they run to time and I have it on very good authority that five buses from five differnt companies tout for business in a "dangerous fashion" and hat council trafic wardens zap tickets on buses at bus stops :furious:

This power was granted on November 1 2005 and this is the first we've heard about it..... :?

Huh - sounds like revenue raising ... yet again

From what I gather on Pepipoo, most 'bus lane cheats' have been caught while trying to turn left across a bus lane which obstructs the turning. (Apart from Tony Blair on the M4)

Yeah - I hate turning left across bus lanes. According to the road markings you're only allowed to cross into the buslane about 2 feet from the junction. Surely if there are no busses USING the lane its safer to cross into the buslane early and avoid the need to abstruct the traffic in the main carriageway by slowing down to make the turning?!
