Blimey how pathetic can some people get?

Anyway guess its fun to muck about with when you're bored. Quite amusing that on one go I went 30 all the way and it still told me to "try reducing my speed further". edit: its because I mad the camera flash at 31

These people are pathetic.

I reckon I could get round there at about 70 if I could see the road ahead.
I've never known the road to materialise that way when Im driving, and how the fuck to they equate a stupid (but probably expensive) 2d arcade game to sitting in a car and driving.

The stupid patronising fuckers.

Sent similar comments to the Lancshire lot about the game on there site (all though I was a bit more polite in my wording). Asked then why there didn't do somethng usefull and replace it with the observation video that you do as part of their speed awareness course. This email was sent 05/09/05 - not heard anything back.

That is quite funny.

Badly maintained road with holes in it and oil all over it. Camera on the only straight stretch when you can get your speed up and no legally recognisable speed limit. They couldn't have made it more realistic if they tried?!

You get a penalty for driving through a faulty, pointless traffic light.
The only way to slow down is the emergency brake, which doesn't work when reversing...

But bashing against the barrier at low speeds is fine. "Fasten your seat belt! - You are going to hit something."

My best time: 01:06:817, no penalties and I got up to 99mph on one of the straights and more than 30 in the so called limit, bashed the car quite a few times and left skid marks all over the place. 5 stars I got for that. Yay me, must be a safe driver, I must remember that bashing things while driving is ok, I used to think it was a bad idea.

Even in this game you end up staring at the speedo while driving through the camera

I share the sentiment.

Although we don't have any rules about swearing, I would ask all posters to consider the impression we might make on important folk who 'lurk' here.

That's scary:

  1. Since when is playing a 2D top down VIDEO GAME anything like real driving? I'd worry if it was considering games like GTA and Carmageddon
  2. I don't often drive at speeds exceeding 50mph when I can only see 20 yards ahead
  3. There are going to be people out there (it is Mid and South Wales after all 8-) ) who actually take it seriously and drive everywhere at 30mph - oh wait, they already do...

Is that an offer to provide a much more sensible game of similar quality for the Safe Speed web site? :)

Seriously, I bet they paid a good £5k for it. Perhaps we should send in an FoI? Yes we should! I'll do it now.

I like the way you can hit the crash barrier at high speed you get 15 points drive over the oil 10 points. Go to fast through speed camrea 30 points
And you don't have to stay on the track.

I think the mini is to appeal to us trendy young foke, as it is a fashion car.
If i an not mistaken they are quite fast with go kart handling.
I think the picture on the web site is a copper is of a copper S (170 bhp )

Almost as silly as the little "game" on the Derbyshire site which had you 10 minutes late for work regardless of whether you sat with arms folded or played the "game"

Our rogues have had a go - comment from 7 year old was in German und I am actually surprised he know this word und I am asking the family :rotfl:"So ein Mist" :? featured in his comments und have they not heard of COAST? und "Road Rage Scalextric ist much better - per our 5 year old "as you can control the speed und see the whole road ahead."und they do use their Gatsos -spare tyres apparently feature :gatso2: :gatso3:

We are bringing them up the right way :hehe: ::boxedin:

We asked our 12 year old and the rogues what they thought the game was trying to actually teach - und this ist really where these people should tap for advice before commissioning daftness like this.

12 year old - only thing being tested ist "how well you can get your fingers on the drive/stop/turn/reverse arrows." Und that she could not see point of how this game teaches a comon sense attitude to speed. She also commented on fact you could drive along scraping the car on the barriers und not get any penalties or colllied or do U-turns or even turn around und drive along road wrong direction :yikes: und not incur any penalties...

Verdict "naffest of naffness" 8-)

Her view ist that they would do better with the normal hazard perception video of normal driving und see if you spot the hazard ahead developing before it happens!

The 7 year old - "The bit where car goes under the bridge und road ahead disappears ...I stopped at that bit the first couple of goes - as I did not understand what I was supposed to do avoid hitting a wall or the barrier or if there was a bend. It's a bit naff all the way around as well"

The 5 year old: "It does not do cornering like Mama does!!"  :? 8-)

The twins reaction? - as their 12 year old sister peppered with what Jules said - und for once I am not going to make them rinse their mouths with TCP based wash  as their choice of language was justified!

Und our eldest? Typical prats! as he observed the 7 year old playing around with this.

What sort of game do you want?

My personal fave is here (you can play it in full screen if you like).

And for the doubters, a perfect start (0.500) is possible

I wish to know how much you are spending on web site development and hosting.

* I'm especially interested in the total cost of the game featured at:
http://www.checkyourspeed.org.uk/noneedforspeed

* If you paid a contractor, what was the bill?

* Please also estimate the cost of any 'in house development' or 'management'
time that may have been involved.

The address for correspondence is:
Trace House,
Clay of Allan
Fearn near Tain
Ross-shire
Scotland

Please acknowledge this Freedom of Information request.

I would prefer to receive your reply in electronic form by email.
