After reading various discussions on SS it is clear that many drivers don't understand some of the active systems available.
Often caused by marketing glossies, salesmen who don't understand it either which means people
assume they know what a system does and what its purpose is... leading to phrases such as:
'well X happened and the TLA* didn;t do anything'
or
'my new car's got ABS which helps me stop faster'
*insert system TLA here
whether you like the proliferation of gizmos or not, a safe driver is clearly one that knows the systems on their car, its capabilities & limitations.
so given my background & experience i'd like to try and outline the purpose & basic functionality of various active systems. obviously i won't (can't) be saying anything that isnt public domain anyway if you know where to look.
it may take me a while to work through the list of TLA's ive got in mind so i'm going to keep this as a top level thread & keep a list linking to the other threads.
not 100% sure how this will work but i may as well get started and tweak the structure if required later.. comments on that welcomed too.
if you have any comments or questions, pm me (or post on the relevant thread if you can) and i'll try and respond on the thread.
i can't improve the information i'm giving without feedback.
