The BBC licence fee has officially been declared a TAX. Nearly every household in Britain is forced to pay the £126.50 TV levy. But in the National Accounts it has always been considered a “service charge” Now the Office of National Statistics has confirmed it is being “reclassified as a tax” It added: “the licence fee is a compulsory payment which is not paid solely for access to BBC services.”

I always thought it was but now it's offical. :(

I have no problem paying my license fee. Most of what comes on terrestial TV is good stuff, most BBC radio is good too.

If you spend any time in the USA watching what passes of TV and listening to what is loosely called radio there you'd gladly pay double

you have got to be kidding

If you like BBC or Classic you are fine, if not you are screwed.

Local radio is all the same rubbish with moronic presenters

Our radio is Sh*t compared to the US. At least over there you have a choice. If you want County you can select the channel, if you want rock you can pick the rock channel. Entertainment on demand. Instead of the BBC fossils that just refuse to die or pathetic "shock jocks" that are on an ego trip.

On TV Also I final got bored with the patronising crap we were being served on the 5 "terrestrial" channels. I finally got Sky. Never looked back.

I would gladly give up the all the terrestrial channels and save on the license if I could
