This series "It Should Not Happen To A Cyclist£ in CW almost always amuses me.
This week's cheery anecdote recounts the story of a bloke returning from a training session and even though there was apparently a traffic - "he decided to keep his average speed and not let his heart rate drop too much"
The guy sprinted
up the inside of a bus and as he looked ahead he saw a "black cab" parked at the kerb and a man in a dark suit waiting to get into it.
Quote:
The man turned his head and made no effort to move. I yeeled at hi to move out of my way
As he got closer - he
saw that the "black cab" was
long, highly polished and complete wtih a coffin and wreaths but
Quote:
It was too late to slow down and I passed between the hearse and the pall bearer at great speed and in my left ear as I passed - I heard a voice mixed with a plead and some anger say
"Bloody 'ell It's a blewdy 'erse mate!"
The cortege passed this cyclist at the next set of lights - and the cyclist braced himself for some abuse from the pall bearer.
But it did not happen. The highly professional undertaker kept his eyes on the road ahead....
Moral .. not all black cars are black cabs...
or German cars
Lot of other good info this week - in depth review of energy drinks and sound advice of carbohydrate energy drinks and a nice nostalgic account of a 1963 biking holiday in the Dolomites..
