Ellesse and Becky Gore (identical twins) and some older pals were browsing in the local PC World. They then headed off to a sweety shop and crossed the busy road which leads to St Peter's Way and M60 net etc.
They crossed the road - but Ellesss (9) is unlucky as the last girl across.
Bloke in a Corsa - Ahmed ..
No one really could say his speed with any accuracy - reports of 50 mph and 60 mph . ...
He did stop after he hit Ellesse.
He drove off. Got a pal to give a false alibi and guilt got the better of him some 11 days later when he confessed all.
So what happened then?
Ahmed is remanded in custody awaiting trial for Death by Dangerous and Leaving Scene of an Accident.
He spent 6 months in custody and was well behaved throughout. He expressed remorse at his trial. He apologised to the Gore family who reportedly accept no jail term will return Ellesse to them.
Yeah - we know - Ferdl was also unique and my Wildy
wife - I could not envisage my life without her. I thank my God daily for her survival to be honest.
Well per the Bolton headlines of yesterday ..
Ahmed (18) received a two year ban. (I'd be happier if he had to take an extended test in reality. Young lad. I think of his parents and their worries too. I do not think I want him to become a "Howarth" type - and I would like to think he can learn and build his character from this.)
He received 12 months for killing the child and three months for running from the scene. Sentence served in Young Offenders Institution.
He will be free in 6 weeks because of the remand system and his exemplary behaviour throughout. Perhaps Judge Morris read it right? I do hope so for Ahmed and for Ellesse Gore.
Quite interestingly the Judge said

Yes.. I understand this. We keep receiving flowers and gifts from the widow of the man who nearly ended my wife's life. Wildy was brave enough to make a post on the Road peace forum about this.
So my view?
To the Gore family if you ever hit on this site - I well understand the pain, the grief and the desire for revenge.
Please focus on Ellesse. Celebrate her life. Remember her.
Let go of hate. It festers. I've been there... my wife was in a coma for weeks. I nearly lost her. I almost lost the plot of reason at the time.
Let it go. It does not take anything away from the memory of your child - who looks very much like one of my own at that age.
The young lad will serve the same life sentence of memory and for him - continued guilt if I read this tale correctly.
Should he serve longer? I really do not know. His standard of driving was plain daft and for that alone maybe he should serve more time.
But if the remorse and guilt are genuine.. lifetime of torture and perhaps nothing worse than self-hate.
Maybe the Judge saw this ... I'd like to think so.
