They’re probably practicing for the backlash that is about to come from the bad polices this government is imposing on the British people. :(

oops, date and time would have helped
this was on monday at approx 06.30. i should be heading back up at around 7am tomorrow so i will keep my eyes open.
i cant see them training at the side of the motorway. i cant see them expecting someone turning into a checkpoint unless they blocked the road off after we went past. strange and puzzling :?

Surely they must simply have been setting up for the expected arrival of 'known' criminals? Perhaps a stolen truck was heading that way, or a stolen can that might have been directed into the checkpoint. Something like that...

that would make sense Paul but how would they manage that? in a police chase, the criminal is not gonna pull into a checkpoint. a stolen truck doesnt attract this much attention from the police despite the alarming rise in hijackings over the past couple of years. im not a tactics expert but i have seen police academy (joke) and it just seems so strange to have armed police positioning themselves somewhere like that :?

Could have been awaiting a vehicle travelling past which they would eventually tactically intercept (creating sterile areas etc), or simply kitting up to go to a firearms job.

Not all AFOs are routinely armed. Many in fact, as we do, spend most of our times on trafpol work, and it would not be appropriate to be dressed in paramilitary attire.

If we get called to a firearms job which requires us to drive into an area where we may require to stop and deal with an armed offender, we'll pull into somewhere safe, usually fairly covert (like a telephone kiosk  ) and get kitted up.

Great to see you again Ian!
When I was at college in Blackpool, there was often a group who used to get into their kit behind the Library when the Party Conferences were on - as well as motorcycle BiB's getting their kit off because it was too hot!

BTW the Bakery is now open 7 days a week!! Pass it on!
