From the Bolton Paper

and

From the Manchester paper.

Seems they had plain ones before.

Must have raised enough revenue for some spray jobs!

Couple of sentences stick out like a sore thumb.

Quote:

From this week... etc

So then - in the past they were not easy to spot.

But :scratchchin: If they have to be easily spotted.. then why perch them on motorway bridges...

Hmm, doesn't look as if the rear doors have drop panels to allow the camera to poke out, so would it be just a touch cynical to assume they'll park up with the rear of the van facing the traffic they're checking, and then have both rear doors wide open to give the camera a decent field of view, thus rendering all this lovely new livery completely invisible to the incoming motorists?

I also note with some interest that they appear to be promoting 30 as the primary limit, given its prominence in the centre of the multi-roundel bit of artwork... Hmm, come to think of it, what would happen if they parked the van side-on to the traffic, with all those limit signs in clear view to oncoming motorists - could be a touch confusing if they're enforcing in anything other than a 30 limit to see a big 30 sign slapped on the side of the van like that. Maybe parking rear-end-on and leaving the doors wide open to obscure the signs would be the lesser of two evils

Slightly off topic but I was travelling along Princess Road today through Chorlton/Whalley Whange area and noticed what appeared to be the first Monitron camera I've seen in Manchester. However, it was very 'conveniently' placed overlooking a crossroads, so that any driver unaware of the new Monitron style camera would believe it be a red-light camera and happily carry on through a green light, unaware they were being invisibly pinged. So much for the Pratnership's claim of "We are not and have never been trying to catch the motorists out" :x

NB: I think the junction the Monitron was at was the crossroads with A5103 and Mauldeth Road West - about a mile north of Barlow Moor Road crossroads. If anyone in the area knows better, please correct me. The camera looked to be north facing only.

That camera is a RedSpeed, it acts as both a red light camera and a speed camera.
