Jelly Babies ... that is.

Per CW - this is the sweet to buy from the sweet shop as it "provides an instant energy burst"

They recommend sucking them   :?

I bite their heads off and I'm partial to the red ones - followed by the purple ones...

I also sherbet filled flying saucers and "apple tarts" and "sherbet lemons" (the ones you get measured in old fashioned quarter pound cones out of that big jar in the "Olde Sweete Shoppe) in our Historic Olde Towne!

I used to buy them on my way home from school - in them days you rode yer bike to and from! I still buy them on my way home from a bike ride..

Jelly babes - "off with their heads " .Prefer the black ones (nothing racialist ) so much so that i get the grandkids giving me them .

I rip off their heads with my teeth und I like the black ones best too

There ist a "tropical" fruit version too - but I prefer the traditional ones.

So do Mars Bars but "an instant energy burst" is the only reason to eat one on a ride.

I've yet to see the pros sucking jelly babies during a race. :)

:rotfl: It's when you see her rip her jelly babies and chocolate wrappers - you realise why we call her a Wild Cat!

But the advantage is they don't melt choccy goo in yer pockets. 8-)

You never know - might catch on as they are light to carry ;) Besides I do believe they have zero "fat" Lot of sugar though....

i always thought the advantage was that not only are they an instant sugar boost.. but also contain a reasonable amount of carbs for slower release.

plenty of peeps eat them in marathons & longer races.

i did once but it happened to coincide with the race i got heatstroke in and spent a couple of miles throwing up all the fluid and jelly babies i'd taken on previously. the result: spectacularly multi-coloured vomit.

i don't use them anymore.

Shame about the heat stroke. When I ride long distances (and yeah ed.. I know it is not the same thing as pressure to perform well in a race) but I do have a little plastic sptay bottle. You can buy these at Boots by the way  I fill it with plain tap water (Wildy rather extravagantly uses Evian Still  Wimmin  ) - but even if the water gets a bit warm - it's still revitalising to spritz it on you! (I also use a small bidon which I also use for walking as I find it easier to belt this around we and suck in liquid as I need to. Our kids seem to find this better - though our baby is still in the trailer and still alerts the whole neighbourhood to our presence when attached to a bike. :? :? She's fine when out walking and gurgles contendedly - especially when we are - er - um - exercising the Jags' "teeth and claws"

But back to topic.. I like the orange ones and I eat them feet first. I chew the green ones hard (I cannot imagine why .. but there is just something about the word "green" these days

I tend to bite the heads off the red ones but suck the yellow and purple ones.

Yep.. am normal bloke.. on checking  :D :)
