Shame about the heat stroke. When I ride long distances (and yeah ed.. I know it is not the same thing as pressure to perform well in a race) but I do have a little plastic sptay bottle. You can buy these at Boots by the way

) - but even if the water gets a bit warm - it's still revitalising to spritz it on you! (I also use a small bidon which I also use for walking as I find it easier to belt this around we and suck in liquid as I need to. Our kids seem to find this better - though our baby is still in the trailer and still alerts the whole neighbourhood to our presence when attached to a bike.
She's fine when out walking and gurgles contendedly - especially when we are - er - um - exercising the Jags' "teeth and claws"
But back to topic.. I like the orange ones and I eat them feet first. I chew the green ones hard (I cannot imagine why .. but there is just
something about the word "green" these days
