"Express" today - Sarah Harris reports on page 45.
A secondary school is to name and shame parents who park "dangerously outisde the gates - putting pupils in peril"
The school intends to take photos of parents who park illegally or

block traffic

iand publish them in the local paper..
Dozens so far have been displayed in the evening paper relating to High Wycombe, Bucks. Highcrest Community High is the school whose headteacher - "desperate" Sheena Moynihan decided to take the drastic action "normally reserved for criminals"
(Hmmmm! methinks she's after publicity .... hmmmm! Why is she not encouraging these children to walk, cycle or take the school bus ..

)
Per the paper - she's been warning parents for months over daft parking.
(Jessika (Wildy's Swiss Headteacher cousin based in Merseyside) simply invited her parents to a road safety "workshop" - which proved so successful that she now has this as an oversubscribed evening class. Of course - it's COAST . hazard aware DVD games, Highway Code "fun quizes" and basic car maintenance combined with some cycling and Green Cross too.) My own teacher sisters run a similar session at their respective schools - and they have a surprisingly high take up - they've even roped in a retired ADI to do the teaching too.

}
However, for Ms Moyniham - the final straw occurred when an 8 year old at the neighbouring primary got run over whilst crossing with a lolly lady

The schools are over-subscribed as "up in the charts of school league tables and children live "outside the catchment area"
Hmmm! So what happens to those who live in the catchment area and who cannot secure a place? Why do they not get a place? Covert selection procedures? We really do need to get all schools improved and level pegging and we also have to remember that not all kids are "academic" and accept that their intelligence manifests in some more practical skill.
(but that's a different rant!

)
Back to the parking problem at this school. School is on a hill and the headteacher says this hill makes it difficult for drivers to see kids - especially with cars parked by muppet parents. She also says there is a car park opposite the schools which parents can use to drop off their youngsters.
Even a police car on a 999 shout could not negotiate its way through the double parked

cars.
Bucks Free Press swooped this week at the request of the headteacher. They took photos of
1. a 4x4 driver who refused to identify
him self and who mounted the pavement and forced a woman pushing a baby in a pram and walking her two primary aged children to school to move to a grass verge.
2. Another blocked the entire width of the pavement whilst waiting to collect
his children. He promised not to do it again
3. Woman in a Nissan Sunny was unrepentant. "It's not causing ME any harm - People will just have to go around me"
In the meantime a plastic police officer is repeatedly telling these parents to buckle up themselves and their children, driveways are blocked and traffic struggles to
crawl past.
TVP, Bucks CC and the Highways Agency are backing the headteacher.
I can sympathise and understand the problem.. but when Wildy's cousin (known to former CSPC forummers as Jessika Tiger) had problems at her school when she first took on the Head role - she did film the antics. She then invited all parents to an informal meeting for each year group and played it back. She then got all parents to chat about how to improve their skills and this spun into her current evening class as she seemed to inspire them to want to improve. But then this girl turned a stinker of a school in special measures to storm up the school pop charts and it's just outside the top ten in Liverpool after languishing third from the bottom.
