spent the day in keswick on staurday and was most put out to recognise half the roads i drove down to get there

i did look out for ernest with his spotter jacket on feverishly photgraphing road features but to no avail.

nice part of the country as ever, if a little busy, bit hilly.

thats all.

I am in South Lakeland territory - so unless you took the long route through the middle (very scenic, but LOTS of changes in limits for no apparent reason) instead of taking the A66 from the M6, then you would have missed me!
However, from your description, do I take it you passed through Ings and Bannerigg on the A591? :o

If so, you should have called in at Staveley, and said hello!

The last person who did that, handed me a pro-speed camera propaganda leaflet, and said he had come to see if I would display them in my shop!
(Nice one Paul - I like your sense of humour!)

yes i took the scenic route..... when you've been on the m6 since J2 a change in speed limit is most welcome.

and given that i travelled up on friday night to arrive at 10:30... and left on sunday morning at 5...... you may not have wanted a visitor

but for reference.... what/where's the shop?

If you like whisky or real ales, then Staveley is the place to be - we have a branch of the Hawkshead Brewery in the yard, and they are building a distillery 40 feet from my door!
We also have an award winning craft bakery next door, and a cycle warehouse across the road - Wheelbase.

been there done that, but i wasn't referring to the roads.

i was supporting a runner on the bob graham, on the first (keswick-skiddaw-calve-blencathra) & last stage (honister-??-robinson-keswick) hence the unsociable hours!

that said his crew did have to trapse over to wasdale to meet him, think they went the long way round tho'.

What did you think of Bannerigg then?
There has been an outbreak of stupid behaviour there again - perhaps the calming affect of an accident has worn off!

Wish I'd known -- we are just a bit north of Keswick.

But hilly? Pah.. Thought a cyclist like you would think that "child's play!"

Keswick .. home to gourmet food supplies too.

Ahhh... Derwentwater.. Borrowdale.. Honister Pass.. Buttermere.. ....the car museum.. Castlerigg Stone Circle ...

You wonder why I never signed on dotted line for the USA? Love here far too much.

bannerig.....assuming thats the funny kink, think i only realised i recognised it when i found it had a funny kink

sadly we dont have hills down here to play on, and besides this was fell running which is a whole different kettle of ball games.

gourmet food? hmmm well i had my brekkie & afternoon smoothie & cake at pedlars.... and used their wifi connection :)

ah well.. when we get the *ahem* campervan up and running shooting off to such places for the weekend won't be quite so expensive.
