Alfa Romeo 147 Tspark Lusso.

Very pretty car, quite swift

What does it say about me?

To Quote clarkson.
"Oh, sure, people who want four wheels and a seat can by a BMW or a Vectra, but those who know, those who care, those who want steering to talk and the engine to howl: they buy an Alfa"

You just have to be able to put up with the odd mechanical siesta

Y reg Astra estate-(mine -- all mine) - possibly says ( oh yes RP -i agree ) old flat cap , but then i dont drive lke an Astra driver - it's got some road holding, and a bit ( if provoked) of poke - so i tend to see how it can go - and i don't kindly take to idiots getting in front of me at 40MPH on NSL roads( but they go their way - i let them upset others).Workwise a transit 90 /350 LWB HI-TOP - short on power - so the pratts of this world can go their way, in their own sweet world.

Puma last car (sold to father)

Clio Trophy current car.

Drive vans all week, these are strictly weekend cars.

I asked the assembled here for advice on what to buy next, then ignored you:

JTB - NICE - problem is i don't like fords ( as found on road dead), as i drive them all week as company van.90t350 transit - not best ad for a company. Now Astra was Mrs B 's choice ---she regrets it sadly and now i've got her to accept my choice - possibly an Audi , possibly a S3/A3 , i'd love something "whizier bev" but got to consider grandkids at weekend - where do you put them in the back of a 2+0 ( and no, i dont want to join the BMW 2+2 club)( got my pride to consider)

I'm retired(ish) and drive a red Skoda Fabia vRS.

To 95% of the folks it might say : What a nice sensible little car. Oh, it's a Skoda. Oh well, never mind, it's probably quite nice really. To the other 5% it says : B****y old hooligan. About time he grew up. And to some 3-series drivers I know it has said : You've just been done by a small, cheap diesel Skoda................but always within the NSL I hasten to add.

:)

CzechMate - almost in your state of years - now -Skoda (fabia ) (VRS) - must give that a look( Mrs B approves of look) ( and i like the feeling of giving a 3 series two fingerers rampant)In red - noo- i would prefer green ( it's a nicer two finger colour  )

Me... 2001 Volvo S60 T5 SE manual in gold. Looks just like this one...

I'm not sure what it says about me, I leave you to judge. I've had it over four years, and have been thinking about a change for ages, but I keep coming back to "why bother?" The Volvo is reliable, reasonable to insure, reasonably economical (32mpg), has great seats, climate control, an excellent surround-sound stereo, and with 250bhp it is as quick as you can sensibly use most of the time on this crowded island.

But if money was no object I'd have a Brabus CL-class Mercedes with as much power as possible :)

Now in that sort of situation - i'd look for the foreiign company making MGB/GTs , get one with a decent body, perhaps a little sloppy rounf the mddle( like me ) and specipy nothing on top ( to meet with my hairline) .
Old fashioned technology, old, reliable .

Sorry mon brave. baby vRS comes only in Red, Silver or Black although there are some older ones around in Custard Yellow iirc. Whatever colour it's possibly the most fun you can have at 50+mpg with your clothes on, (or indeed, someone else's clothes on).

Custard Yellow :? :?

So i suppose i'm down to black ( or silver) ----if i can persuade her indoors to go for it - (hopefully she won't see another sedate astra before then  )

But the vRS is a nice sensible small 5-door hatchback. No boy-racer stripes, no huge wheel-arches....................it's a Skoda for heaven's sake; of course it's sedate. BTW the claimed 0-62 time of 9.2 is wrong. Autocar timed their long-termer at 7.2 once it had loosened up, (and it feels more like that, also). However, it's the in-gear acceleration where the torque makes it's presence felt. Makes for much safer overtaking and leaving 3's in the mirror. That's plenty sedate enough for this GOM.

O.K., sorry - end of Skoda commercial. Go test drive one and :) lots.

I like red.

£50 tax, I don't like giving the government more than I have to.

Sure it's only a 1.4l HDi but that's the most powerful diesel engine you can (or, could) get for a C3.

(no there's nothing missing. It's, err, in SPECS-proof mode. Yeah.)

Roger thanks for the links from the previous threads, the Citroen C4 2.0HDi arrived end of Feb, the engine is great for overtaking.

Have only put 12k on the clock (a very quite year with most of my sites here in Essex) my two gripes: the wing mirrors look great but narrow where I want the most visibility and they don't do an estate version :( , Think I'll go for a mpv next time, more space for the bike and dive gear.

Nice to see some other Citroen owners here !!

PS Haven't a clue what it says about me, I wanted a 'fun' car but that was still practical from the company car list. Draw your own conclusions...
