So he'd rather see cars that use twice the fuel and probably 4 or 5 times the wear on the road? What a ******.

I might post something else when I've calmed down.

Is it now time to banish motorcycles completely from our National Parks?

What a wanker!

The idiot may not realise that there are many people who have motorcycles as their only form of powered transportation, including people who actualy work in national parks.

It is a worry that fools like that are given positions of authority.

Well, I'm utterly stunned. But what we need to do is come up with the right range of counter arguments, and quick. This has the potential to make national news, and I'm sorry to say that there will be people nodding agreement.

So why, exactly, is he wrong?

Another hypocrite, why should the majority suffer for the sake of the minority? It seems to me he just doesn’t like bikers the same as Brunstrom.

How about contacting BMF, MAG and MCN for a start.

BTW whenever I have been to National Trust and Heritage sites motorcycle parking is free. Even they are not as bigoted as this moron.

Because he's inciting hatred, that's why.

BMF are on the case...
http://www.bmf.co.uk/press/2006/press377.html

Quote:
Personal comments by senior police officers in web logs on official police websites, go against the Police Code of Conduct say the BMF in a letter to the North Wales Police Authority, questioning the use of such personal web logs.

This follows comments made by the Deputy Chief Constable of the North Wales Police, Mr Clive Wolfendale’s personal blog on the North Wales Police website in which he floated the idea of banishing motorcycles from National Parks.

In the BMF’s letter, which has also been sent to Mr Tony McNaulty MP, Secretary of State with responsibility for Policing, and to the Association of Chief Police Officers’ (ACPO) Portfolio Holder for Police Standards, Mr Paul Scoot Lee, (Chief Constable of West Midlands Police), the BMF point out that the Mr Wolfendale’s web log for the weekend of August 5th contained a number of remarks that appear to conflict with the Police Code of Conduct ie: ‘Police officers have a particular responsibility to act with fairness and impartiality in all their dealings with the public and their colleagues.’

I think its a classic case of DRUID envy.....

Ive spoken to BMF and MCN and issued the following PR at 12:01:

PR344: North Wales Police: Inciting hatred

news: for immediate release

In the 'blog' of the deputy Chief Constable of North Wales there are complaints
about motorcycle noise and a suggestion that, perhaps, motorcycles should be
banned from national parks.

Paul Smith, founder of the Safe Speed road safety campaign
(www.safespeed.org.uk) said: ""This a very ugly and planned piece of PR. The
deputy Chief Constable of North Wales is attempting to incite hatred for
motorcyclists. If motorcyclists were a racial group I dare say that his own
chief constable would be having very stern words. As it is, I presume that
North Wales Police figure that motorcyclists as a group are fair game because
they contribute to the statistics that prove their beloved speed cameras don't
work."

"This is not the proper business of senior Police officers."

"It is actually very important to road safety that all road user groups look
out for one another. These comments incite hatred and tend to set road user
groups against one another."

<ends>

Yep, I'll agree with that one.

A nasty case of foot-in-mouth disease. Something Mr (Druid) Brunstom is an expert in.

I wonder what the welsh tourist board would think by this unwelcoming policy.

Secondly I would have thought that these blogs represent a risk to security. Disclosing personal information about the view and activities of senior police officers opens them up to all sorts of problems.

Reading their petty diretribe makes me wonder if north wales police don't have much on these days. Who's footing the bill for their self-promoting autobiography ramblings. Why should welsh (and probably english) tax payers pay for these idiots to draft their memoirs..

Its an abuse of public assets.

I dont think that he is allowed to mis ues his un -electedc position to talk about anything other than police bussiness regarding law and order.

He has taken the roll of politics, trying to influence other electorateand tax payers. This is something council officers and employees are forbidden to do.

Front page news in MCN.

I agree that BLOGS should not be the Police equivalent of Parliamentary Privilege.

He ought to get screwed over this. Big style.

I doubt bikes do twice the MPG of a car. So come on you sports bike riders, tell the class how much fuel your bike uses, and tell the truth now...

I get 50 mpg out of my 1200cc Buell

My wife gets 100-110 out of her 125 Marauder

My daughter gets about 100 from her scooter

Article here.
Nobody has explained whether he intends for bikes to be banned from coming INT the National Park, or whether he intends to ban ALL bikes, including residents.

Another aspect is, that if the exhausts are illegal, then there exists a legislative process to prosecute them.
Is he advocating abandoning this in favour of the "Blunderbus" approach?

Are the police no longer capable of enforcing the laws of the land?
