CO2 levels were based on sun strength to keep plant life at an optimum growth level? I was idlely wondering whether, seeing as plants need CO2 to grow I'd assume there is a fixed amount of it needed for given amounts of sunshine and growth. If that ratio needed to stay within certain bounds then wouldn't it be possible for the earth as a whole to increase CO2 concentration when there was more solar activity and a general warming to take advantage of these conditions or prevent something else occurring? Of course man would be making a difference with added CO2 but what if most of the increased CO2 was down to this effect? Are there any graphs around to show solar activity and CO2 level and whether an increase in one follows an increase in the other?

The oceans are CO2 sinks so they could let off more when needed. If man were filling the atmosphere with CO2 then nature's natural CO2 level increasers should show that they slow down over time to respond to CO2 levels. I wonder how long the feedback delay would be?

Just a mad idea anyway :D

The CO2 being output by man is on the increase. The forests, especially rain forest , that absorbs the CO2 is being destroyed by man at an incredible rate.

The natural CO2 balance is temporarily lost.

However, I still think it the height of arrogance to believe that a lifeform as insignificant as Man can be changing the climate. Especially as we're so powerless against anything else controlled by Nature.

The Earth has had global warming and ice ages long befope Man came along . It's just a natural cycle and we would be better off working to preserve our lives (and lifestyles) 'cos we sure as hell ain't going to stop it.

The latest round of publicity cobblers includes the phrase "help PREVENT climate chance".... :o :o :o

Ok so we can prevent it now can we...

While the eco-warriors are kidding themselves they can control climate leading economists are calling for action to prepare for it. At least some one has a realistic outlook on things. I just hope the latter wins out for all our sakes.
