Yesterday during Prime Ministers Questions Gordon Brown said that a petition on the Downing Street website calling for a general election in 2007 had only 26 signatures. Bad move. It now has 4,111.

See: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Election-year

Sign and pass it on. I have.

Theresa May just mentioned it in Business Questions. It has the makings of a huge petition with huge news potential.

If you agree spread the word.

Thanks for that.

I had a search for that yesterday after Brown advertised it. All I could find was lots of petitions rejected because they were similar to an existing one.

Signed - though it won't make any difference if it gets 10 million signatures. They proved earlier this year that site is there entirely to make it LOOK like they care but allows them to disagree with everything people say and spread their labour party crap en masse via email.

I don't suppose when he pointed it out anyone responded with "so you're saying if it had 1.8 million signatures you'd actually listen, Gordon?"

I signed it, if only for the lulz. We know it'll make no difference.

It's a shame that it's calling for an election in 2007, but will not actually be submitted until 26th Jan 2008. :banghead:

I DO NOT understand why people think like this. It won't change policy but it will very likely generate strong publicity and criticism.

I thought this cartoon, taken from Iain Dale's Diary, was very appropriate :rotfl:

I'm just bemused by the fact that there is still anyone in Britain that still thinks that a change in Government will make a difference anyway in this now: One Party State...

Now, OK.....Go on..... Tell me that IF BORIS gets to be MAYOR of old Londinium. That he's going to scrap the congestion charge, all the controls, the parking meters, the clampers. etc etc.....

Don't think so.......................................

Was Gordon asked to boost any other flagging petitions?

The EU treaty (referendum question) came up and I thought it was important so I split it to a new topic:
