I was driving to work along the A46 towards Warwick and encountered a familar speed camera, surprisingly enough I see it every morning.

I was driving 57 in a 50 and went straight through the camera, i had a glimpse to see if there was a flash or anything but everything seemed sound, dya reckon this could be a dud or am i still waiting for my ticket?

I've never been caught (not that I make a habit of it) speeding before so therefore never had a ticket, what is the normal waiting time to receive a ticket, on the plus side if i don't i know its a fake  this happened about 2 weeks back and I've not heard anything, expensive for 7MPH over if I do :?

Just fresh from reading the topic on the speed cameras that were destroyed maybe if that was anyone here please come and take alook at this one (jkin)

If you are the registered keeper then any NIP should be with you within 14 days and posted first class, if you are not the registered keeper then basically they have 6 months before it times out.

57mph is the ACPO guideline for prosecution in a 50 (10%+2 mph) and as far as I am aware there no fixed cameras set to levels below the ACPO guidelines (I keep hearing of people receiving NIPS for less than 10% + 2mph but have never seen one).

Sounds like you were just the right side of the guidelines to me.

Cheers

Paul

Also, it is likely that your speedo was over-reading - unless you were driving a truck and it was better calibrated? (or you were reading from GPS)

Thats good to know I may of been on the right side of the guidelines, so if i had been going 58-59 I prob would of been flashed then?

I was driving my car as normal, the speedo (is hopefully) (should be) accurate, I drive the route quite often so i weren't using GPS. Damn things i'll be fuming if I get points for that

Also the camera housing might just be that. There might be nothing inside it. They can change them around whenever they want.
I don't suppose your tires are a bit worn down?

If anything it very likely to be overreading, possibly by a few MPH at that kind of speed. That's also in your favour.

I use that route regular as clockwork for my punch south to Taunton. ( I drive for Langdons)

Where is the 50 mph section your on about ? (I may need new glasses !!)

On the single carriageway its 60 for you (car) guys so the scamera wouldn't flash anyway and it's 70 on the dual carrigeway .

Sorry Outcast my mistake the camera was on the Warwick Road A439, I think you continue up the A46 I take the A439 towards Stratty each morn, picture shows where approx maybe slightly further up. How fars your drive to Tauton? Dya trek there and back each day?

My car is fairly new so i doubt the speedo would be misreading atm, but at that speed who can be sure its accurate, maybe once I hit 10K miles the needle may drop off :S , my tyres are sound they've done 3600 miles, I need to check inflation levels but the tread is fine.

Gopher - I'm the registered keeper so you know I think I'm outa the woods, ( It'll come thru Monday Morning now you watch  )

Many car manufacturers deliberatly make thier speedos over read.
My toyota has a digital speedo and disagrees with my gps by 10%

Maybe thats why I am allways running late?
I have 60 miles to drive I drive at 60 yet the I am not there in the hour I planned. Its the governments fault

Im the complete opposite when driving and following GPS i'm always within a minute of the ETA, maybe the fact you got digital speedo can account for you been slightly behind your GPS, there could be a delay before outputting your speed? I've always had analog so thats a stab in the dark.

LOL the gov'n overclocking your speedo get a speeding ticket when your convinced your only going 50 :x *swines*

Sorry Outcast I've just read that i can't upload the map and have no private server atm :( , anyways its on the a439 approx two stretches up off the A46

Ah yeah... I know the road your on about now.

Indeed we do keep on the "Main drag" although those roadworks past the health farm have been a bit of a pain these last few months (on the way to Alcester). Wasn't too bad for us to start with as us "oldies" new our way round Stratford... but... word gets out and it aint too clever meeting another artic through stratty were the road pinches (Bidford road).

I do Peterborough to Taunton & back twice a week, sometimes three if I'm working Friday night overtime (I'm a night Trunker). I vary the route though as it can get a bit boring just sitting there for nigh on four hours at a time !! (Cruise control - full auto transmission - Just aim it basically). Sometimes using A605 ---> A14 ----> M6 -----> M42 -----> M5 ----> J24

Other times

A605 -->A45 ---> A43 --- > A34 --- > A420 --- > M4-----> M5 ---- > J24

or your way....

A605 ---> A14 ---> M6 ----> J2 (Coventry) A45 --- > A46 --- > Tewkesbury J9 ---- > M5 --- J24

Out of sheer boredom I've even returned via M4 and just stayed on it till the M25 -- > St Albans -- > Hatfield (forget the road number) --- . A1 Pboro although that way took over half hour longer and I ran out of time ( 4hr.30 mins) bang on our diesel pumps !!

That'll be the ETA which updates its self based on the speed you are doing? ;)

Yeah those roadworks are a nuisance, correct me if im wrong is that where they are strenghtening the embankment or something similar? Always paranoid of cornering too quick and falling straight down the embankment lol! Not 100% sure of the bidford road but can't imagine you in a HGV meeting an Artic down by them roadworks, must be slightly harrowing!

I took alook at your routes on multimap made sense of most of them but havn't driven that far out on my todd, bet its sweet cruise controlling down 100 miles of the M5 though! What are your hours Outcast full on night driver?

Just curious but as you said you ran out of time, what would happen when this happens, can you take for example that 30mins out of the next journey or are have you just lost 30mins!

Yeah thats right Ziltro its a TomTom on my PDA, its only screwed me over once and that was when I had Very Low battery and risked paper instructions instead of GPS, when I checked the tomtom I was 20 miles away, lol I'll never follow paper instructions again! Ironicly my in car charger arrived 2 days later

After a solid 4hrs 30 mins drive we MUST stop for a solid 45 min Break. That means the vehicle absolutely NOT move one IOTA.... AND, you must not do any work related task.... ie: clean the mirrors etc ( I kid you not).

The Roadworks are gone now, just as well coz thats the way I'm going down to Taunton tonight !!

Looking at THIS <------ Map of Stratford...

Look at the top left, thats the roundabout on the A46 at the bottom of the big hill.. the Park & Ride is on that roundabout too. imagine your travelling down the A46.... Turn LEFT at that roundabout and head in towards Stratford....... ( A3400).

Turn right at the first MAIN set of traffic lights onto the A4390 ( Arden Street). Just after the Alcester junction the road pinches inwards... You probably wouldn't even notice it in a car or van but Heavy vehicles twat mirrors !!

Arden Street is what we call Bidford road because...... It goes to Bidford !! .. Ok.. Just looked... It's actually called Evesham Road. I guess cuz thats the next big town. (B439)

BIDFORD
