The Cumbria S Camera Forum is threatened with closure.

Is it worth preserving?

Poll ends Feb 28th 2005.

I voted no because I don't think it's really achieving anything any more.

Sensible questions are met with sarcasm, evasion and, in some instances, a ban. If it continues to be run along the same lines then, really, what's the point?

The only plus I can see is that, if you can get the blinkered "cameras are great because I saw it on a billboard, poster or bus shelter" crowd to read the threads and see how the operators find it impossible to back up their claims in any meaningful way there's the chance of changing some minds. What are the chances that the type of people who believe SCP propaganda would be willing to take the time to listen to rational arguments against them anyway?

Edited to add wouldn't it be better for the poll to close before the official CSCP shutdown? I doubt very much they''ll open it back up after it's gone.

I think there's a negative assumption in your question isn't there? I set the poll close date deliberately to avoid indicating any assumption. Obviously we can take a snapshot on the suggested close date.

I believe it is worth preserving the CSCP discussions - or perhaps relaunching them - for the simple reason that there are so many questions unanswered.
