I pulled over to answer a call on double yellows on saturday and after finishing the call i noticed a bin across the way and thought i may as well dispose of an empty drinks bottle i had... anyway after dropping the bottle in the bin i turned round to see a car had pulled up in the road in front of my car... inside was a guy (in plain clothes by the looks of it) looking at my car and scribbling something down and as i got back to my car and he continued to do this. As he made no gesture to me to stop i just got in and drove away... to cut to the chase are there traffic wardens in plain clothes and unmarked cars cruising the streets these days or is it my imagination getting the better of me... i was literally out of my car for less than a minute so would be v miffed to get a ticket thru the post... can anyone put my mind at rest...

RSPCA inspector checking to see that you weren't putting a cat in the bin.

Have to reword that kiddies rhyme now to "Din dong ding , pussy's in the bin" ,and with my bin with a dent in the middle of the lid , I'm tempted to add an antifreeze wipe( just so that in the colder weather ,we don't get a lump of ice on top of bin)-now we don't want cat's getting stuck to the bin lid do we .

And yes, there are "traffic wardens" cruising the streets. And CCTV can be used now as well. The ticket no longer has to be attached to the vehicle.
