Found this one on the ABD website...

link

Just goes to show that it ain't the letter of the law, but how and who it is applied to that can make the difference!

Excellent stuff,
We seem to have the its reason its 30 and bugger all else. What we should have is the old public information films ( remember the green cross code man - telling kids not to play near parked cars ). We should have one telling motorists to look out for pedestrians by parked cars. Makes me realise how far the safety on roads is going backwards.

P.S. whats your favorite public information film mine is Reginald Molehusband and reverse parking.

:) Richard

I guess we probably need to know more about the law in relation to pedestrian crossings in Switzerland.

If I see a bus stopped by a ped crossing, or any (large) vehicle for that matter, I'm probably going at 5 mph until I am sure there's no-one behind it.

Liebchen - law regarding jay walking - und ignoring red man und stepping into road without looking -even at zebra und causing accident has always been offence subject to prosecution und fine - und it also applies to cycling in the pedestrian lane und not using the cycle lane und driving in the cycle und bus lane....

We have always had this law. Even lieber IG was fined when aged 14 when he inadvertantly crossed just as red man appear.

But if traffic had stopped at zebra for girly und car then hit her whilst on crossing - ist different as she had crossed when traffic give way to her. If she ist in court - then prosecution will provide evident to prove she cross without wating for the traffic to stop - that ist the offence where I come from - Appenzell

Ist nothing new ... ist why less people get run over....over there.

I saw this in "Express" today und passed the story on for comment in "Chat" Have watched a few oldies und "Wooden Top" did it for me :rotfl: und I like the one about the Grim Reaper weighing up children playing by a pond. Ist something politcally incorrect about that one now - but I think it gave a strong message about dangers..

I seem to recall one about not taking sweets from strangers from my childhood days... und the main one to teach us how to cross road? You had Tufty? We had Mimi Marmot und a couple of cats! Und another which was a bit like Green Cross Man...
