Are there any members from the Isle of Man?
I've recently returned from a trip to the island & was pleasantly suprised by the driving conditions there. The roads are of an excellent standard & although I was aware of the no speed limit situation, I was suprised to note that during a week, I did not see anyone driving at crazy speeds. Drivers on the island are very polite & will never overtake a parked car if there is a vehicle approaching from the other direction, unlike in the UK where drivers will happily destroy wing mirrors in their refusal to wait for 10 seconds. The road signage is at a very low level & warning paint on the road is very rare except in towns. This all contributors to a pleasant driving experience where the driver can put full attention on the road, instead of staring at the speedometer, or becoming confused by the overkill of warning signs.
Lately, the Manx government have started to discuss introducing speed limits & also speed cameras. This is unfortunate as they are in a unique position to be able to see what has happened in the UK with this policy, but there appears to be no organised response to the government on the issue.
