News is going around about a new style digital cameras on sixteen foot poles, as if to say they will be more difficult to notice. I know about the former but what of the latter? And if they exist are these cameras any different to other 'new' digital cameras?

Sounds like a Redspeed (Monitron) camera. They are more difficult to spot because they're waaaayyy up in the air out of the line of sight of most motorists.

They also use road loops rather than radar, so they won't be picked up by radar snooping detectors either...

Lots of motorists scanning the sky instead of the road - I'm sure thats a really good thing for safety.

Idiots.

We could start a campaign pointing out the risks of these high speed cameras to MP's, also pointing out the general failed policy of speed cameras and calling for thier poles to be painted reflective yellow.

We could also ask for a minimum size reflective back plate/sign to be mounted with average speed cameras. Going through the M6 roadworks last night it was very hard to spot the small yellow cameras on the over head gantrys

Put a standard letter here and ask people to copy paste and ammend then use the fax your MP link at the bottom of my posts to submit it to them

If someone can put together a standard letter I'll go for that.

Letter campaigns like that are well understood, recognised and generally ignored. It's FAR better to write individual letters.

We could create a list of 'key facts' for letter writers though.
