UK Road Maintenance: Delivering Smarter, Safer Journeys
New policy development for road management - examine with DfT

Tuesday 24th January 2012 , Guoman Charing Cross Hotel, Central London, 09:15 - 16:00

We have limited £99 places* available to attend this forum. This offer is available to public and third sector organisation.

The National Infrastructure Plan committed over £10 billion for maintenance and investment in key road and local transport schemes and a further £1.4bn has been committed to fund new strategic road schemes between now and 2015. Furthermore, in the Autumn Statement 2011 the government announced that it will be investing over £1 billion to tackle areas of congestion and improve the national road network as well as committing £170 million of extra funding to allow more local transport projects to go ahead.

The Transport Committee’s Out of the Jam: reducing congestion on our roads report, published September 2011, states that tackling congestion should be viewed in the wider context of transport policy. The estimated cost of congestion to business is set to rise by £10-12 billion over the period from 2003 to 2025. The report recommends that a tougher driving test, greater use of real-time information systems and better co-ordination between road management authorities offer affordable methods by which to curb road congestion.

The timely forum will offer delegates the opportunity to hear the governments UK road strategy and discuss solutions to creating a smarter, safer and a more efficient road network.
