This week it's been a pleasure the driving alot the M55 during rushhour between junction 1 - 3, it's a 50mph limit whilst the motorway is down to 2 lanes for roadworks. Drivers have been slowing gradually to 50mph before the limit comes in and stay at 50 right to the end of the road works.

Reason: local camera partership have parked a van on one of the bridges which can be seen 2/3 mile away. The van has been unmanned and has no camera. Good to see they are doing there job rather than grabing the cash

In contrast on the last lot of roadworks on the M55 a couple of months back digital cameras with the live satellite link were used and quite often was the cause of talebacks with people (including those within the limit) suddenly braking - not safe.

It's interest how much the mobile cameras are disliked in the Lancashire area, theres an area in Fylde where for a distance of 2 miles you'll get flash a warning from every on coming vehicle right upto to the where the mobile van/motorbike is.

unmanned vans thats a frightening thought, we all know that the fixed cameras are not always loaded, but to put dummy vans out as well "flash back to the wooden tanks of WW2", but how do we know which van is unmanned
