Can't easily find my post, which was about any reason why I see trucks parked up overnight with curtains/doors open. No real explanation came to light till one Police program tonight. A lot of truckers open doors/open curtains to show truck is empty, and to stop any costly attempt to get into the rear of the truck .

Yeah they've been doing that so that it's obvious if anyone's jumped in! Seemed weird the first time I saw it - some yrs back I must say! :)

It's because we don't want our curtains knifed to look inside

Watching a few police "advert, on how we stop thefts from parked trucks, when we're looking for speeding cars :? " programs over the past while, I did wonder.

I stopped in a hotel in a dodgy part of Manchester a few years ago and was advised by the owner, to leave doors unlocked and glovebox open, to show there is nothing worth pinching, otherwise the local scum would open them for me to have a look....nice.

Sometimes works- my daughter had a break in at one time. Advice was to remove rear boot cover and leave glove box open. It still was hit, with ignition damaged, before they realised that car was immobilised, and joy riding was not an option. police not interested. Car written off. Contrast to other daughter, who had her 125 bike stolen. Local bikers put word out and bike was returned in 24 hours undamaged.
