Now, I'm a public-spirited sort of guy, so when I spotted the Talivan on the motorway this morning, I mailed out:
Quote:
For those of you travelling between Telford and Birmingham today, the speed cameras are out on the overbridges at junction 7 of the M6 (the A34 junction)
(We have a fair number of people doing this journey at the moment)
I had a few "thank you" mails from colleagues glad to be warned (even though at that location it was tricky to get above 60mph!) - then this one went round in reply:
Quote:
However, should you not be breaking the law then this will not be an issue.
I ignored this as the work of a po-faced anal-retentive, then this was followed up (to me only):
Quote:
There is a very important point here - you may view this as helpful but others who may have been involved in serious accidents and injuries as a result of speeding drivers may not.
Regards
Resisting the temptation to start a debate on speeding vs. dangerous driving, I replied to this:
Quote:
Oh, dear, the cat is really among the pigeons here. I DO NOT intend to incite speeding by ******* staff, or by anyone else, and invite you to point out where I have done this. However, it is really not that difficult for anyone whose eyes are not glued to their speedo to drift a little over the threshold to be booked, and to end up with 3 points and a £60 fine. Four of those and you're off the road, and most of us need our cars to do our job.
Perhaps we should remove the link on the ****** Portal to "Telford Speed Cameras" (site run by the West Mercia camera partnership). Obviously this site is encouraging people to speed where there are no cameras

Can I also point out that I have a clean driving licence and have NEVER been booked for speeding.
(Work details and names removed to protect, well, me!)
Clearly government propaganda does work with some. Do the rest of you find this as well?
