Yesterday morning there was a head on crash on the dual carriageway alongside Preston Docks, heading towards Blackpool.

An "elderly" motorist turned right at a set of lights onto the wrong carriageway and was hit head on 100 yards up the road. The local rag reported the time at 6.48 - my wife left home at 6.30 and travelled that same road to work - she must have missed this collision by 1-2 min max

I was driving with a client this morning and turned right at the same set of lights (onto the correct carriageway, before anyone asks! ).

Low and behold, a Talivan was lurking near the accident scene. What **** use would that have been yesterday? Answers on a postcard to the Lancashire Parasites for Road Safety, Gestapo HQ.

If the combined speed of both vehicles was more than the speed limit then of course there would be an accident!

Which makes me think, if you come from an unrestricted road on to a restricted dual carriageway and enter the wrong side, would you be let off of speeding because you never saw the signs? :scratchchin:

if the talivan was there yesterday, by the time the CO had seen the muppet driving the wrong way, reached for their phone / radio to call it in (exactly the same as anyone calling in) by the time the call is recieved, logged . allocated and vehicle dispatched,

100 yrds to impact no one could have got there

cause - driver error

I wonder how much a pair of no-entry signs cost compared to a talivan.

Yup the talivan could make no positive difference to crash likelihood. Same as always then.
