Reps favourite car Mondeo most flashed by speed cams

MONDEO man gets more speeding tickets than any other driver, research shows.

The motor most favoured by company reps tops the league of cars whose drivers have been caught by speed cameras.

Fords, including the Transit van, made up half of the top 10 models with Zetec and LX versions regularly breaking the limit. Vauxhall were second followed by VW. And they are mainly driven by middle-aged men.

Steve Callaghan, of Cumbria Safety Cameras which did the survey, said: "You can see that it is not always the stereotypical groups that are caught.

"People have an innate belief that they are really good drivers because they have been driving for so many years. But it is actually the family and business motorists, aged between 31-40, who are predominantly at the wheel of the vehicles in our top 10. You would think more powerful marques would feature, but they are marketed to drivers who seem to be more responsible."

But Paul Smith, of drivers' group Safe Speed, said it showed that sensible drivers are being victimised. He added: "Your risk of getting caught largely depends on how many miles you do each year. The police and councils should wake up to reality. They say cameras are there to catch dangerous drivers, but those most caught most often by the flashguns are the safest."

A Toyota clocked the highest speed recorded in Cumbria at 140mph, followed by a Skoda doing 131mph.

Hmm, the most common vehicles that also tend to hve the highest mileage profiles get caught most.

So if you get caught by a camera you are a bad driver....

Typical brain-dead thinking by super Steve.

I would imagine that "business" drivers that do 40K a year are much more likely to get caught on camera by the law of averages alone.
