I got a Nip at the end off July for an alleged offence mid July, thing is I saw the van (LTI 20-20 on tripod in front) checked my speed and crept past. So I requested pictures I was told I could not have pictures but could come and see them. So I went to see them, I tried to say that from what I was looking at I had not covered the required distance on the road, obviously this did no good, the guy tried to rush me out but I wanted to look again. At this point another officer butted in and told me he was operating the camera that day in his opinion I was speeding and that was all that was needed "I should take my punishment like a man" his exact words. I said its not a case of that I was trying to establish IF I had committed a crime, he said in an agressive manner "I'll see you in court then" . I made a complaint about this officer which was investigated and he is being cautioned. I was sent a letter with my unsigned NIP back stating the speeding ticket and the complaint will be delt with seperately , fair enough but I have also been informed by the investigating officer that this guy was not infact operating the camera. he said he was and in front of the other officer, it gets more bizzare turns out it was the other officer who was operating the camera and he said nothing!!.

I don't know what to do, I signed a statement saying I wanted the officer to receive a caution but I also think it said that I realised these would be dealt with seperately, a mistake I think?

Would my returned NIP be classed as a reminder?
should I wait for a reminder?

What should I do next?
I have not re-returned the NIP yet because I just don't know what to do next. These two officers clearly misiformed, even lied to me. How can I trust them to be treating my case fairly???

I don't want to go to court, I guess at present I'm ignoring it hoping it will go away

Any advice

Cheers
Rob :?

You need to respond to the NIP whether you think you have commited an offence or not otherwise you will be charged with not identifying the driver (known as S172 offence). An S172 offence is taken more seriously by insurance companies and will put your premiums up more. Before you do anything go to http://www.pepipoo.com/ , you will find lots of information there. Advising on speeding offences isn't really Safespeed's remit.

Actually, on the NIP it only asks who was the driver at the time of the alleged offence. It is by no means a confession.
I signed the NIP, went to court, and still got laid off...
