Several people have confirmed to me that if i get 6 points on my liscence within the first 2 years of owning my liscence, i will get a 1 year ban! and have to re-take my test!????

is this at all true?

I will have held my liscence for 2 years in 1 months time but i have only held a full motorcycle liscence for half a year, would the timer start from when i first was able to ride on the roads or from when i got my full motorcycle liscence?

If this is true I find it completely discusting and i dread the thought of losing my liscence for a year!

My uncle recently lost his liscence for 6 months for driving a bus while under the influence of alcohol, this is the 5th time he has been caught drink driving and he only got a 6 month ban, he then drove up north 100 miles to see his family when not having a liscence and then got caught drink driving without a liscence/insurance, the courts decided he would get another 2 months ontop of his 6 months, what the 'kin shit system is this that they will penalize a 17 year old for creeping over the speed limit with a 1 year ban but somone who could have killed lots of innocents gets "let-off"???

If somone could reply to me with an answer fast i would be very grateful, in the mean time, im gonna go cycle past some gatso's naked at 35mph...

All the best

Tom

Oh dear!

Special rules applied to new drivers (from 1 June 1997). If you had provisional licence before passing L-Test, accumulate 6 points - including any from provisional licence days, licence caqn be revoked. You then have to re-apply for a provisional licence and redo both theroy and L-Test. In fact - believe they make second test harder!

By the way - we still want your £120 as well!

Sorry!

Probably - sorry!

Beagle (Lawyer) suggests you check out pepipoo for some further advice. You could probably find suitable "grovel" letter there - to stay execution!

Give it try. See no reason why not. We are human - you know

But be prepared for that lecture in that tone of voice if you've been a bad lad!

Out of interest - how fast were you? And Derbyshire? Not tonning in the High Peak? Tut!

You're not very clear about whether you're expecting a NIP, or have any points yet, but I don't think this rule is a particularly bad one. The comparison with your uncle isn't realy relevant - as a new driver, you will still be learning about how a vehicle handles and what other drivers can do to try and kill you - so being more careful isn't a bad thing.

The problem is that it is now very easy to accumulate points without doing anything particularly silly, which de-values the whole points situation, especially when you start comparing speeding with serious offences.

Im not expecting an NIP but i do have 3 points for speeding. I think that people shouldnt me allowed on the road without knowing about how a vehicle handles or what other drivers can do to try and kill you. I Beleive that young riders after riding a year know a hell of alot more than car drivers who have been driving for 20 years because they have got to know more to survive, I think if there should be an advanced test you can take to rid you of this law (6 points = 1 year ban and revoked liscence) which will educate people more so they are no longer a "new rider".

All the best

Tom
