Greetings,

I would appreciate any help that you guys can offer me on this. Sorry if you have heard similar stories before.

I recieved a NIP on 9th October, claiming i had been recorded on the M180 doing 96mph on 28th September (so within the 14 days) I do recall passing a parked up Police motorcycle, with a small box (digital camcorder size) on the rear (i think mounted behind the seat) I requested a new NIP on 3rd November as i had spilt coffee all over the original , this duly arrived on the 4th November and has to be returned, again, within 28 days.

Whilst im sure the justification stories are plentiful, its a first offence in 8 years of being a 40000 miles a year service engineer, the motorway was deserted, perfect conditions. If it were a FPN, 3 points 60 quid, i would have just paid it. As i was allegedly doing 96, not 95, it will be a summons and i dont want to lose my job for it!

If anyone can give me any help, i will be very grateful.

One question - at the moment i am probably looking at 6 points and a 500 pound fine. If i simply refuse to identify the driver, all the evidence i can find suggests the maximum penalty is 3 points. Any thoughts on this?

Cheers

Another point - Am i entitled to ask what type of device caught me? As i gather that some are more prone to errors than others

you need to go over to Pepipoo (link: http://pepipoo.com/) as they can advise on courses of action (and they are realistic, so don't offer false hope as some of these "get off your speeding fine" scams appear to do).
