Been working in Manchester all week, and as I was leaving Manchester to get on the M56, just as you're leaving the 40mph zone and joining the motorway (i.e. starting to build up speed), guess what was parked on the left verge - a scamvan.

What on earth has that positioning got to do with safety???

Instead, people were accelerating, spotting scamvan and slamming anchors on...

I despair.

Is this the same location that I have seen on on the end of Princess Road, underneath the 2 motorway bridges with the van parked on the left on gravel patches.

I saw it a few months ago there, and thought it was stupid location, but also that if you read the guidelines about camera locations they aren't supposed to be used under bridges to avoid false readings caused by reflections.

I also wondered why it was there and why its a 40 mph limit - the road is a large dual carriage way with barriers all around. There are 2 lanes filtering on and 1 lane off just after the bridges, but I would say the lay out was no different that some other junctions around Manchester/Salford that have 50 mph limits.

I may be wrong butI thought it was radar that is affected by bridges and armcos, not laser

Yes, the 50 mph limit on the A5103 should be extended north of the M60 junction and only drop to 40 when houses start to appear alongside the road.

That section is well-known as a favourite for the scammers.
