Er.. he apparently works in "traffic management"
How can you have

A large minority or a small majority
Why not be honest.. we all break the damned limit at some point or other in the average drive - blips down to surface, polish on road, camber, momentary lapse - not noticing the gradual blips until the gadget bleeps for scamera and you note the GPS says 34 mph and just ease off gently...

Anyone who claims they never break a speed limit is just telling us "porky pies" - even some cyclists are pedalling faster than the limit on some roads

Why else do the brake lights go on .. whenever they approach a speed camera
Pavlov dog effect.. Too many hit the brakes even if legal

If you are on a 40 mph/50 mph road .. reaction seems to be "if there's a cam.. it's 30 mph!" I blame
that ad..
There is one - A6 as you hit Salford. Slip road says 30 mph. Driver on 50 mph dual carriageway sees "Gatso" and the 30 mph lolly at the same time.. and hits the brakes. I hear from the Mad sisters down there that lot of rear end hits occur here..

Fortunately .. none serious yet... but they'll all figure on insurance stats...

That cam may claim to have no fatals - but it has plenty of minor incidents near it.. none make the news though as they are never serious.

enough.
Chap says he tried cycling again and got carved up on Moss Bank Way.. Per the other letter I posted up in "Cycling" - would seem some traffic management has occurred since then. I am surprised he has not seen this ..but then I do not know how good or bad the "improvements" actually are.. Perhaps the reason he saw three cyclists is because they now have some cycle lanes there. But then.. traffic is a lot different to what it was when I were a lad.. and I would urge anyone returning to cycling to take a Bikeability course to get au fait with good practices.
