Mike,

Why write it then..and then change tack..months later !!! they meant that I think ...

You could twist a six foot thick steel girder... :P

They have had no reply from government ..half hearted welcome to all PCSOs..

Few words spoken..till today..

24000 PCSO, today 16000... you are not wanted I think..they have cut back on their spending for PCSO s...

You must have done really well.. you have done so well..

They dont need 24000 just 16000 ..great you lot are !!!

16000 job cuts easier than 24000 job cuts !!!

They welcome PCSOs, it says it on their press release.

What more do you want.

They don’t need to welcome PCSOs, and say they do a great job, why would they say it?

If all of their police officer members hated PCSOs, why would “the voice of the force” post a press release saying we welcome them and they do a great job????

Have a look on the recruitment page at “Police could you” / PCSO’s, ALL forces are recruiting PCSOs!! What does that tell you?

Funding will come from local council and part funding from the police, they will introduce a number of “new powers” where PCSOs will help with things like detections which help statistics, they will be invaluable then matey.

You’ll see.

Either way, ALL forces are recruiting, what other evidence do you want??

Good in my opinion.

There needs to be more PCSOs (which ARE being recruited) and there needs to be s few more Police Officers.

So that’s a good thing.

I thought this might be an appropriate place for this article in the Daily Express on Tuesday. It was also in the current bun.

Quote:
'Plastic police' meltdown

Labour has been forced to down grade its flagship plan for an army of police community support officers to help tackle crime.

The plans to hire 24,000 so-called "plastic police" have been scaled back following pressure from chief police officers who want to spend the money on properly trained officers.

However, the Tories warned last night that the move would mean still fewer uniformed officers on the streets. Tory police spokesman Nick Herbert said: "Another manifesto promise to tackle crime has been broken and additional funding for neighbourhood policing is significantly lower than previously promised."

The Government had planned to recruit 24,000 PCSOs; this has been slashed to 16,000. Yesterday, Home Office minister Tony McNulty said the Home Office now agreed with chief police officers that "the delivery of neighbourhood policing does not necessarily need 24,000 PCSOs".

Good

So here's the link to the DfT report: http://www.dft.gov.uk/stellent/groups/d ... 612594.pdf

I'll be interested to hear your comments on "speed kills" and how cameras are going to save us all after you've read this.

To be honest the cameras only work for the 40 or so yards of road that they cover.

I am aware of several camera sites in my locality and as to why they are there. Having researched two of them one is there because of a high death rate on that stretch of road, however the truth behind that is that a family car crashed due to bad vehcile maintainance and 3 members ofthe family in the car were killed.Prior to tha there has never been a seriosu accident on that stretch of road.

Another site is where a drunk pedestrian stumbled into the road andwas struck by a boy racer (BTW that one happened in front of me)

Another is where a drunk driver was speeding and crashed into a tree killing him and his girlfriend.

So yep for the 40 or so yards of road that the camera covers, people slow down, then they speed up.

QED

I agree with part of the ethos behind safespeed, as here is nothing more likely to hack you off than getting a 172 and nip in the post a fewdays later.

And there isnothing like a good old fashioned bollocking to educate you.

Many years ago when I did my probationer constable training we had a full day's input on discretion.

Mike my first post in this thread

fatboytim wrote:
Mike welcome,
Youv'e arrived after the fight is over this is the Post (hey pun) Mortem.
The main point of the argument was, where in legislation is the power of a Constable to form 'prior opinion' of speed, able to be bestowed on a civilian PCSO.
Please don't answer me here, but,
When/if the thread re-opens your views would be most welcome.
fatboytim

ps it got a bit 'heated' hence the thread is 'on ice'

Where do I say they need they need powers to use the laser, it the admissibilty off the readings produced, that is my issue.

I don't thik there is anything the mods need worry about.

At what exactly are you taking offence.

so to summarise:

Honsetandy doesn't like PCSO's.

Mike and BigSi do.

Fatboytim joined in with some legal arguments.

Other than that, is there any other interesting discussion going on here? If this thread was deleted, would anybody care?

Now I have re-read it has become clear that HA is intimating that being a securicor guard is of such a high salary that he could not afford to become a PC.

thanks

A good summary.

I also read the following into it - please correct me if I'm wrong:

Mike rejoined with the fresh identity, possibly to reinforce earlier arguments, but has taken every opportunity to bait HA - for the most part subtlely, probably intending to make him lose his rag so that I would bar him.

Big Si joins in periodically, with a similar hidden agenda (qv "Securicor guard" above which was vehemently denied some while ago)

HA is still spitting the remains of his venom, less subtlely than the others, but generally at bodies of people (PCSOs) rather than individuals - although often can't resist the tit-for-tat.

FBT, Smeggy and a couple of others chip in periodically with typically impartial references and opinions that help to sway the "oh yes it is/oh no it isn't" mini-pi$$ing contests of which there are so many.

Me? I am spending about 2 - 3 hours a week solely on this "discussion" to make sure it doesn't run off the rails like its predecessor did when I blinked for a couple of days.

Am I close?

Dear Moderators.,

I will save you some time here ...our time is valuable.

I have made my point and have made my feelings known about the PCSO. I wasnt bothered..laughed at them in the street.

UNTIL their efforts to be important..resulted in my disabled wife with no convictions get a fine and three points...after 20 years of driving on a clean licence.

In less than what I would argue as due and legal process..

Second rate police people, ill trained and ill thought of = PCSO

I will not post anymore to this thread ..to save you on your valuable time.

Mods I have been polite in my dealings with you, and thank you for your patience :)

However Botach, and Handy If it were you..your licence trashed by these PCSOS by dubious means would you not write here. You seem to like writing here, (you write here a lot I note !)...but wish to choose only ....what you would like to discuss.!

Think about it....why read the thread if your bored with it.. by the way I hope the Traffic PCSO doesnt try to trash your licences !!!! cos according Big Si Mike they are coming to a town near you soon :(

Ahhh, I forgot you are perfect people and never speed ..please excuse me.

This thread has the most hits I can see on the site, I hope that people are not as unfortunate as us, and do not come into contact with an over zealous bored meglamaniac PCSO..like we did..or try to discuss it here with botach and handy

Good day to you all
