Received e-mail from one of my sisters - the one who works at a school in Altrincham,
She tells me that she drives along the back lanes to avoid the A56/M60 jams.
She tells me that just before the Broad Oak School on the A6144 - which is close to a 40 mph to 30 mph limit. GMP have a Smiley Sid/VAS which shows a scam sign and flashes up a reminder of the 30 mph limit about 50 yards before the school gates and a pelican.
She tells me this is a "sound system" as it focuses and there;s an instinctive glance on dash and skim of road immediately ahead for hazards. She also tells me that as she approaches a sharp bend in Flixton .. she comes across another such device warning her of the bend and reminding her of the limit.
She tells me that per her general observation of all road users in this area.. the effects seem to be very "positive" and she finds this a "welcome change of tactic and more traffic calming than the vans which she used to see there!

"
So ..perhaps someone somewhere is really listening to us all after all

There are better ways of gettiing people to observe the safest speed without scamming and fleecing
