What is the status of private driveways that exit directly onto mini-roundabouts. Do they (Legaly speaking) have the same proirity rights as the other roads or does emerging traffic have to give way to everybody?

Dear gosh, that doesn't sound like a very safe place for a mini-roundabout.

I don't think mini-roundabouts have any rules. The roundabout near me is luck, since you can't see traffic approaching from left or right till it's too late.

There are quite a lot of them round here. There is also one where access to a garage forecourt comes streight off a mini-roundabout. (same question applies)

There is no difference between mini and normal roundabouts - except you are permitted to drive over minis ONLY if it is pysically impossible to go around. (A fact which escapes the knowledge of most police drivers from the local station near my place of work!)

Is there a case of a private drive on a roundabout? I find that hard to believe.

Not as bad as a signal controlled crossroads with a shop car park entrance also entering the junction but not signal controlled, or if it is then you get three roads getting green lights at once!

Or traffic lights that are triggered by cars, but not by bicycles.

Or parking bays so close to sensor traffic lights that you can't trigger them without driving through the traffic light, a bit chicken & egg! sotonsteve might know this one: where Latimer Terrace emerges out onto Queens Terrace. Try parking on the last meter bay!

I thought you could drive over them if they were paint splurges but you had to go around them if they had the hump. Justy shows you what I know. I tend to go the wrong side of one local to me when turning right for the benefit of everybody (assuming nothing is coming from my right of course).

You could just give the link to LocalLive, i.e.

I think the rule with mini roundabouts is that you mustn't touch the white circle if there's a police officer looking, unless they are in front of you and went straight over the middle themselves.

I would have thought that it is the dashed lines which control priority. No dashed lines, no need to stop.

WoW, Soooo

If the LA "diddnt" paint dashed lines accross the private driveway then the private driveway has "Absolute" priority??
