Metric is much easier to use. I reprogrammed the dash on the company vehicle when I first started working there. All of the calibrations I have to use are in metric so I don't want any imperial gubbings on my dash. Can't remember the last time I used an imperial spanner...

It's not so much the metric distances that give me a mental agility problem, it's the measurement of areas in hectares. I just have no feel for these like I have for acres.

(Adam will now demonstrate his skill in this area, no doubt)

Also Kgs/sq metre for tyre pressures is "unnatural".

A hectare is 2.471 acres. I have to put fertiliser on in KG/ha and water needs to be applied in cumetres/hectare then measured in mm. But when I want to work out how much yield we've got it all has to be converted back to acres. When I'm harvesting spud I measure the distance I travel to load a trailer in meters, then times it by 1.8 meters which is the working width, then have to divide it by 2.471 to give a figure I can understand.

44.5 ha doesn't sound as impressive as 110 acres either :)
