Damn/Blast. Well I'm sure you'll all think I'm an absolute plonker...

Past week I've driven 500+ miles... For me thats quite a bit... Many of these miles were done on motorways and dual carriageways... At about 85 mainly... Yes thats speeding I know... Got back down home direction last night... Had 2 mates in the car... Go into a deserted car park to sit for a minute or two, get a quick rest before dropping them back home... Just leaving the car park I notice some kids running around outside, and my attention moves from looking where I'm going (I'm sure you all know where this is going) and I end up turning round about 2 metres from this lovely welcoming steel trolley bay thing... Hit it... Was quite a weird feeling to be honest... Reckon I was only doing about 10mph... Damage to the car is totally superficial... Headlight smashed, bumper hanging off (luckily ka's are put together in wee sections so I only have to replace one section), and dented the passenger side wing... Scuffed the bonnet a bit too, but that'll tcut out :|

I'm really annoyed with myself... But just more evidence that speed doesn't really cause accidents... It's just a lapse in concentration and you hit something stupid...

Oh well, glad the wee car still runs... Need to get a new headlight though *cry* but I've learnt my lesson... Always watch where I'm going :)

don't beat yourself up about it ... and don't buy a new headlight until you've tried a scrapyard, you could save quite a bit that way.

These things happen, thankfully you lost concentration at 10mph not 85mph.

:yesyes:

I drove from Manchester up to Ayr, then from Ayr back to York after very little sleep. The drive both ways was absolutely fine. Then when parking up in York I had an argument with a wall.

Don't worry about it. It does go to show how these things happen though, but better than hitting the kids.

Just forked out for the new headlight... The breakers nearest me hasn't had a Ka in a while... Altho he did have a Fiesta... I might be getting 2 steels from him at some stage...

Upon further inspection of the car we reckon we might be able to fibreglass the bumper back on... And just get new clips... It's more the passenger wing... Which we reckon will pull out pretty well, and well... Then... Out comes the isopon...

I'm just so glad it wasn't a child/another car...
