From elsewhere on the website. I have been trying to think about what these statistics mean in practice.

Of course more pedestrians are killed in accedents involving WVM that those involving cyclists since there are a lot of white vans covering a lot of miles.

However, from a potential victims POV these stats suggest that, if you are walking down the road and are being approached by either *a* white van or *a* cyclist. The white van is less likly to kill you!

Astonishing if you think about it, or am I missinterpreting the stats?

Vans have loud horns and make a sound anyway.

Down a country lane the van is a higher risk to you.
However in urban areas if you were 65+, a little deaf and a push bike on the pavement made you fall over . The risk of a fall killing you are not insignificant. you are not so much at risk from a van as you wold probobly use a pedestrian crossing.

This approach has been endorsed by Attorney General ever since 1951. CPS Code
