hi there

i'm not proud of this at all - i'm really anoyed that ive just been caught by an unmarked car, foolishly doing 101.25mph on the m74 north of gretna. i already have three points for a non-speeding related offense, so i'm fully expecting to recieve a ban. having a ban would seriously wreck my livelihood - i have a baby on the way and have just started a sales job, so i need to drive. in fact, i was only speeding because i was under pressure to make a meeting on time.

as it was over 99mph, the police must send a report to the procurator fiscal - thats the office that decides what happens next. has anyone had experience of this happening to them too? i was told i might need to wait up to three months for a decision from the procurator fiscal, which seems excessive. given that i was caught so close to the 99mph limit, is there any chance of them taking a lenient view?

in the meantime is there anything i can do to reduce the length of the ban, or reduce the size of fine?

its the three points i have on my license that worry me - if they give me enough points to tot up to 12, how long might i be banned for?

i feel totally sick with worry.

Bed luck Cooper.

If these are true then you must present proof of them when you get to court. The mags won't care much about you but they will consider the hardship imposed on your dependants resulting from your penalty. You should find you'll get another 6 points and a £x00 fine.

I doubt this will help you:

Just say sorry and that it won’t happen again.

Get yourself over to PePiPoo (clicky), they'll be able to help you with the legalities and procedure.

Good luck, for you and your coming baby.

I think you need to slow down. If you want to go fast, trains and planes are allowed to exceed 70 mph without penalties of any kind.

They still crash, though.

I know some SSers could answer that, the best answer I can give is to repeat the link to PePiPoo

That name again - PePiPoo :)

My local branch is only 75mph and the cars whizz past where it parallels the A14.

I'm surprised a partnership hasn't had the idea to film out of the window of the train, after all they've suggested fire engines.

I totally agree with smeggy. Late for a meeting will go against you as you might do it again. Humbly appologise in best suit & tie. Keep your mobile out of site and no flash watches or glasses. They want to hear how you have changed your lifetyle to stop this happening again.
