Perhaps you may like to add a few comments to those already there Paul? I think they could do with it

4 hours on a sunday.

They want to put a 30mph limit on the Holes Bay Road until 2009. :|
And another shorter on the Dorset Way. Just for a contraflow. Eh?

Eh? Holes Bay Road become a 30mph? How does that road warrant that?

They'll be bringing back the requirement of a man with a red flag next!

How does it warrant the 50 limit? :x
It's going to have a contraflow. So this one is allegedly temporary. Until 2009.

Let's hope they don't close half of the road like they did to make the abandoned park and ride.

The new 50 limit on the Dorset Way is... well permanent. I don't know when they will be doing that but it has been decided on already. There were no objections to it. Maybe they didn't advertise it very well?

I believe the fire brigade are causing this, with their new fire station. They are a member of the partnership.

Do they ever advertise these changes? They sneakily reduced the speed limit of a stretch of the Dorchester Road in Weymouth which had been 40mph to 30mph just by taking away the 40mph signs. No surprise that a week or two later many motorists were zapped there too.

Nice to see comments on the Dorset Echo from members of Safespeed :)

I started a New thread for the proposed orders, maybe someone else wants to know about them. I did get the details a tad wrong on this thread... Oops!

Poole Council wrote:
Proposed Traffic Regulation Orders are always advertised in the Local Press, usually The Advertiser in the Legal and Public Section, this advert always coincides with Notices being erected on site the same day. Residents and other road users have the opportunity within the 28 day consultation period to write in with their comments, whether objecting, supporting or any other comments.

As from the end of July Traffic Regulation Orders will hopefully be available to view on the Borough's Web Site but unfortunately at the present time this is not possible due to the system soon to be upgraded.

We do have a mailing list to inform approximately 60 bodies which includes Residents' Associations, Cycling Groups and Pedestrian Groups. The Emergency Services, Bus Companies and all Ward Members are also informed.

So, the mailing list is comprised entirely of people who the restrictions don't affect? Hmm.

So the average motorist wouldn't know about such things unless it is in the press and they happen to buy the paper.

We all make mistakes as I did on the Echo ;)

Somewhere, I'm sure it was here, there were some statistics for the different counties along with the figures of KSI etc and number of speed cameras within each county. I've tried to find it but cannot. Can someone post a link if they know please?

An expert criticises speed cameras (follow up to the A35 Tolpuddle bypass fiasco):

Not for all the right reasons, but I guess it's good.
As an aside, is it legal to park on the verge of a clearway?

I think Paul should have sent in something to the Echo, as he has such a way of putting things to make people think.

If it's a clearway then there is no stopping/parking allowed anywhere is there?

I've left a comment - I'll be down that way in August, when I go to see my parents - early in the morning though!

I thought Michael Schumacher had retired!

I've seen your comments Ernest and I must say it is nice to see them as I think some of our Dorset folk need a bit of education ;) I hope you enjoy your stay in August.

As for MS, I wish that one would!
