Just tried a check on Petrol prices .com for 10 miles from me - both unleaded and diesel within .5p.

Y'know Botach, the way things are going here, driving your car into town with a full tank of fuel is soon going to be as dangerous as the "only gay in the village" walking down Chav street at 2am flaunting his Rolex, diamond earings and Ipod whilst making that ever so necessary mobile phone call on his latest "super must have" phone and bending over to pick up a penny...........

Armoured tanks anyone?...........

It would make sod all difference to Co2 - manufactures would simply put a speed limiter in and carry on as before. Then we'd all download the crack codes from the interweb and de-restrict them. Giving the manufacturer a nice cop out of the warrenty if anything went wrong.

we've had 40 years of speed limiters on mopeds. The vast majority are still capable of more than 30mph without major work. I'd estimate (based on my london commute) that 60% of 'peds are de-restricted.

Sorry, I posted the standard power output of the 1.4 VAG motor. We got ours done by a company called JabbaSport who specialise in VAG tuning.

So do you have the real power and torque figures because those don't add up to a fast car, in fact they don't add up at all. Well possibly for an electric motor or a steam engine.

This one sounds like another non-starter to me.

I won't bore everyone with the same old argument about a powerful car at 70mph requiring less revs and hence producing less CO2 than an underpowered car doing the same speed....

It ain't necessarily so anyway!

Can't we rename this the "My vehicle's performance figures top trumps" thread?

I've resisted the temptation so far, mainly on the grounds of the unexceptional nature of my car.

Oh, sod it:

Engine: 2.0 litre
Power: 182 bhp - can't remember revs (7k ish)
Torque: 147 ft lb - can't remember revs (4k ish)
0-60: ~6.5 secs
Top speed: 140mph
Economy ~29 mpg
Wheels: 4 (put that category in to give me a top-trumps chance)

Performance??? Don't have the numbers but you could say it was adequate.

Is this the Caparo? (I think that's how you spell it.)

Late but...

60mpg was the combined figure.

The standard car returns 80 mpg on the extra-urban cycle. I regularly exceeded this figure.

Regardless, you expect us to believe your car is more efficient than when unmodified, even though the torque has been substantially boosted? (and probably geared down too judging by your claims).

Just had a look at VW Sport ---LUPO Sport - 1400 cc - as per others.
Unchipped - suggest you contact RP - he's looking for a new lawnmower engine.
Perhaps mpaton might find a better use - till then - RP - round one - i'll referee.
