the changes to my sig were mentioned on another thread which has been subsequently locked, but it probably makes more sense to clarify my position in this thread rather than start anything new.

I still believe the opportunistic press release on the event of the crash was crass, however I wanted to change my sig to express my support for Idris Francis on the eve of the S172 judgement. As there is a limit to the size of sigs, something had to go.

I was going to delete the whole sig, but my feelings on what Richard Brunstrom did with his "press conference" is so strong that I felt I could not remove that. Instead, I removed the line referring to Paul's PR and replaced it with "Fingers crossed for the S172 Judgement".

This morning that seemed inappropriate, so I removed it. I could have put the original line back in but I didn't, it's gone now and I couldn't be bothered to look up the link again, and I was a bit peeved about the whole S172 judgement.

I was so peeved, in fact, that despite the fact I don't really have a problem with speed cameras, that I was considering joining the campaign (OK, so one lost sheep for Paul won't be an issue, but it would have been a fairly big step for me). Bombus, your comments couldn't have been timed better, you've saved me a few quid.

Handy, this is the last thing I am going to say on the subject. I am sorry that you feel that way and it was not my intention to offend you or put you off in any way. It was my opinion that you were trying to make an administrative decision (against me) that was not yours to make. But I should have put it more tactfully and left the other stuff out. The trolling and the time/place had irritated me. Both of my posts in that thread have now been removed.

Please, please don't let what I say influence whether you join. I'm just a nobody. Your principles are still the same surely; if the campaign was worth joining before my comments then it still is now. I'm sure we'd all like to have you as a member.

That's my final word.

It's taking a long time to sink in for me. I hate the way that our current government is eroding rights and freedoms. But until this morning I thought we had a viable safety-net. Obviously I was wrong.

Harsh! Whenever you're ready, if you're ever ready, I'll do my best to make you welcome. But I fear we'll never manage to do anything about the human rights issues. Cameras? That's different. Their days are numbered.

You've been saying that for probably 4 years (?), and they still keep putting them in! What number are we talking about, one in the tens of thousands?

I'm not in the mood.

Now that was a trolling post.

If it wasn’t for the efforts of Paul I strongly believe there would have instead been many more speed cameras/prosecutions.
There was the moratorium, now there’s no ringfencing of camera cash, the tide of public opinion is steadily turning.
